The Bible declares that God loves humanity and has provided a clear way for every person to experience salvation. At the Holiness Born Again Church, we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that salvation is revealed through the teachings of Jesus Christ and His apostles. “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:20–21 (KJV). The message of salvation was preached by the apostles in the New Testament and remains the foundation of the Christian church today.
Why Do We Need Salvation?
The Bible teaches that all people have sinned and need redemption. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
Sin separates humanity from God and leads to spiritual death. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Because of His great love, God provided salvation through Jesus Christ.
Who Is Jesus Christ?
We believe there is one true God, who revealed Himself to humanity as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration. “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.” Deuteronomy 6:4
Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, who came to save the world. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” John 1:14
“God was manifest in the flesh.” 1 Timothy 3:16
Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus made salvation possible for everyone.
How Can We Be Saved?
The New Testament clearly explains the Apostolic Plan of Salvation. When the crowd asked the apostle Peter what they must do, he responded:
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38
This message remains the biblical pattern for salvation today.
1. Repentance (Turning Away from Sin)
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God with a sincere heart.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19
Repentance involves:
• Confessing sin to God
• Asking for His forgiveness
• Making a sincere decision to live according to His Word
2. Water Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ
Water baptism is an essential part of the New Testament experience of salvation.
“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5
The apostles baptized believers by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
“They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 8:16
“When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 19:5
Baptism represents our identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
3. Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost
The baptism of the Holy Ghost is the experience of God’s Spirit coming to live within a believer.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4
This promise is for everyone.
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off.” Acts 2:39
The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live a victorious Christian life.
4. Living a Holy Life
After salvation, believers are called to live a life that reflects God’s holiness.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians grow in righteousness, obedience, and devotion to God.
The Blessed Hope
Jesus Christ will return again for His church.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout… and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
Every person must be prepared to meet God.
“Prepare to meet thy God.” Amos 4:12
